The hollow sucker rod, including hollow pony rod, is one kind special sucker rod designed for oil extraction of high pour point, high viscosity and high wax content. A hollow sucker rod is a sucker rod with hollow interior. It injects heat carriers (hot oil, hot water, hot gas) into the oil well through the central hole of the rod body, chemical agents or runs into the cable for heating to reduce viscosity and dissolve wax, so as to improve the fluidity of crude oil and improve the production efficiency of three high(high viscosity, high solidification and high wax content) crude oil. It can also be used for water injection, wax removal, sand flushing and layered oil recovery. It has the characteristics of high rigidity and strong torque capacity, and is widely used to drive screw pumps. The sucker rod body is made of seamless steel tube and the threaded joint is connected with the rod body through friction welding and heat treatment.

Advantages and application
1)Hollow structure can be injected with hot oil and vapor. It can also be used for running heating cable.
2) High rigidity to bear large torque and suitable for PCP
3)The hollow sucker rod can be used with the tubeless pump to make the crude oil flow out from the inner hole of the hollow sucker rod. In this way, the hollow sucker rod plays the role of both the sucker rod and the oil pipe.
4)Except using the hollow sucker rod as a common sucker rod to transmit power, well washing fluid can be added into the hollow rod. Its special structure avoids the damage of the well washing fluid to the oil layer and improves the thermal efficiency.
5)The hollow sucker rod has small flow passage, fast flow rate, and is not easy to deposit sand particles. It is suitable for oil wells with sand.
6) Decrease the viscosity of the oil and the wax deposit in the well to increase the pump efficiency.
